FAQ

You ask, I answer

"The challenge of our time is to find a journey worthy of your heart and your soul."

1. What is coaching about?

Personally I define coaching as a partnership between the coach and the coachee, where inner growth and holistic awareness are stimulated via communication, empathy and specific techniques aiming to achieve lasting results.
Coaching is about supporting individuals to create clarity and realize the potential within themselves. I will be walking alongside on the journey that you are taking, helping to create manageable actions to move towards your overall goal and desire.
As a coach I will consider your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects so that true insights arise and lasting growth can take place.

1.1 What are the benefits of coaching?

By coaching you I will help you to:

  • Develop a successful strategy, set compelling goals, find ways to overcome challenges and develop more resourceful ways of thinking

  • Discover what you truly want based on your real needs

  • Clarify and align with what you really want to achieve

  • Encourage self-discovery

  • Elicit self-generated solutions and strategies

  • Boost your confidence

  • Take full ownership of your life and choices

  • Achieve great personal satisfaction

  • Unlock your real potential

  • Increase effectiveness in your life

  • Stay committed and motivated to your goals

1.2 What coaching is not?

Coaching is neither therapy nor a quick fix. As a coach I do not sort out your problems for you. I believe that you have all the answers that you need and I assist by tapping into your internal resources to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
Differently from other forms of support including counselling, mentoring etc., I consider and honor you as the expert in the situation – you are the best person to judge what’s right for you – so you won’t be given advice or told what to do.

I will expect you to take action – you need to be committed to make THE CHANGE you want to see. If you want to obtain, change or reach anything in life, you need to be committed to massive actions. So if you’re not willing to do something to improve your current situation, coaching won’t be the right path for you at this time.
And no worries if you don’t know what is your goal or what action to take, here is where I come to help you.

1.3 What can I expect from coaching?

You can expect to be asked questions, you can expect to be listened to in a totally confidential and non-judgemental environment.
You can expect to be challenged in your current way of thinking to find the paths that make you feel more congruent with aspects of your life you truly value.
You can expect to discover valuable insights, own resources and new possibilities. And you can expect to agree on manageable steps and some actions to move you from where you are now to where you want to be.

1.4 How do I know if coaching is right for me?

Only you can decide if you are ready to be coached. You have to want to do this, because I will need to ask you to apply your attention to areas of your life which you may have ignored or avoided in the past. In order to make the coaching relationship work, you need to be open to new thoughts, concepts, feelings, ideas and possibilities in all areas of your life.

1.5 How does a session work?

To commence the coaching we will have a conversation where we settle into the coaching relationship and talk about your goals and desires. During this session we will decide how we will work together and I will propose you a plan.

In order to create real human impact I work with clients over a period of 6-12 months. Anything less than that won't support the transformation you want to see. As we are all different you won't get a one size fits all approach but a personalised package tailored around you.

My approach is holistic and together we will work on:

  • VISION to get in touch with your calling

  • STRATEGY to get where you want to be

  • MINDSET to make your belief system work for you

  • SKILLSET to get everything you need to implement the strategy

  • ENERGY to build resilience for a balanced life

When you are ready, let's have a conversation on how you can transform any aspect of your life.

The sessions are carried out over the phone/Skype/Facetime or face to face.

1.6 How long do I need coaching for?

This really depends on each person and project. Having a series of coaching sessions is ideal because this enables you to build up momentum to be empowered to continue with your action plans after the coaching sessions finish. I usually work with clients over a period of 6-12 months. But, some people like to see whether coaching is for them and so one-off sessions can be arranged.

2. On NLP

2.1 What is NLP?

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a revolutionary approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California in the 1970s.
The definition I like the most is from Robert Dilts: “NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a name that encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming. The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create. Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay affects our body and behavior (programming)."

2.2 What do you use NLP for?

Through NLP techniques, I will show you how to master your mind and decide your response to whatever happens to you. In particular:

  • Become aware of how to manage your emotional state and choose how you feel despite the situation you find yourself in

  • Learn how to use the power of your thoughts to overcome any bad feelings or associations you have to situations, people, places and things.

  • Understand the power of language and your belief system

  • Find out what motivates you and don't; what makes you to behave in certain ways and to change it.

  • Helping overcome conflict - within yourself and with others - so that you can move forward without being held back by not useful patterns.

3. On HeartMath

3.1 What is HeartMath?

Based on years of research, experimentation and validated results, Dr. Childre developed HeartMath. HeartMath is a system of powerful, easy-to-learn, easy-to-use tools and technologies to prevent, manage and reverse the effects of stress. As a result, we can meet life’s inevitable challenges with poise and resilience. Our bodies and minds are nourished for optimal health and performance. And we convert “stress lockdown” into free-flowing energy for fueling creativity, productivity and personal fulfillment.

HeartMath is a unique system of rigorous scientific research, validated techniques, leading-edge products and programs and advanced technologies for people interested in personal development and improved emotional, mental and physical health. HeartMath is internationally recognized for practical solutions that can transform the stress of change and uncertainty and build people’s heart coherence and energy reserves.

3.2 Are HeartMath techniques simply types of relaxation/meditation techniques?

Although HeartMath techniques produce many benefits for the body, mind and emotions, the HeartMath Institute does not consider them to be forms of meditation because their purpose and effects – the experience they give – are quite different from relaxation/meditation practices. Professional meditators say HeartMath actually facilitates their meditation experience by improving their focus, emotional management and self-awareness.

3.3 How does HeartMath view breathing in the stress-reduction process?

Although rhythmic breathing exercises can help control your heart rate and have a calming effect on the body, also shifting your attitudes and emotions can achieve much more. Research shows the key to neutralizing and countering the effects of stress is actively adding a positive feeling such as appreciation, care or compassion to the process. Experiencing positive emotions has a much broader range of potential health and wellness benefits than rhythmic breathing alone. Generating a positive feeling adds a dynamic element to stress management– ultimately building and sustaining coherence and reducing stress.

3.4 What is personal resilience?

Personal resilience is the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, challenge or adversity. In addition to bouncing back, or recovering from, there are two other important concepts in the HeartMath definition:

  • The first is capacity. You can build and accumulate resilience, which builds capacity. You then have more energy when you need it

  • The second concept is preparing for. The better prepared or the more resilient you are, the less you create situations from which you will have to bounce back and the better able you will be to handle situations in the moment
